Dear MCIS Parent/Guardian,
I am
delighted to be your child’s art teacher this year! I look forward to an
exciting year as we explore various aspects of art making and art history. In
this class, we will focus on the Elements and Principles of Art and how they
are used in the world around us. We will look at how some famous artists used
those Elements and Principles in their work and we will also get a chance to
use them in our own art projects. In addition, we will explore cultures and
time periods throughout history to identify how art was used in those cultures.
Assessment:
Students will receive grades in art class. The grades can range from
Satisfactory (S), Needs Improvement (N), or Unsatisfactory (U). Grades are a
based on the following criteria:
·
Following
directions
·
Effort/Attitude
·
Creativity
·
Craftsmanship/Neatness
Class
Behavior Guidelines:
To maintain a safe and productive learning environment, art class guidelines
have been established and reviewed in each class. Each child is expected
to follow class guidelines so class time can be used for learning.
Parents will be notified when their child has disrupted the learning
environment. That being said, good behavior will be rewarded!
Art
education is for all students. Students will not only have the opportunity to
develop artistically, but also gain creative thinking and problem solving
skills. Additionally, art class is an enriching part of your child’s day.
Please feel to contact me if you have any questions by calling 733-7080 or by
emailing sydney.cox@mercer.kyschools.us. I am looking forward to a great
year!
Sincerely,
Sydney
